STARLAB is used by many museums and science centers for outreach to schools and the community. The following sites are excellent examples:

Adler Planetarium (CARA Outreach). High school students (Space Explorers) take the STARLAB into Chicago grammar schools -- a program that has been so successful, other school districts are replicating it.

Schools, School Systems, Colleges and Other Supporting Educational Institutions

Public and private educational institutions of all levels are using STARLAB to teach science. Following are a few examples:

This Regional Office of Education provides staff development opportunities and technical assistance to educators in 3 Illinois counties including STARLAB. This page features teacher comments and how STARLAB lessons fit in with the state science standards.

The Wilson Education Center maintains 3 STARLABs for use in member schools.

Raritan Valley Community College holds 4-day STARLAB workshops for educator in grades K-8. They are then eligible to rent the STARLAB for their schools.

The mission of the Merck Institute for Science Education is to improve the quality of science education during the formative years of kindergarten through eighth grade. Their goals are to provide all children in its partner school districts with strong, inquiry-centered instruction that meets the emerging national standards in science, thereby raising levels of student performance and to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach so that other corporations may emulate it.
